  • Stop press – “Shocking” news.

St Michael’s on Wyre Lodge No 8348 and the St Michael’s Farmers Ball have successfully collaborated to fully fund the purchase of a Defibrillator & Cabinet for St Michael’s on Wyre Village Hall.

The collaboration was facilitated by the Rotary Club of Garstang and Over Wyre and was the 14th Defibrillator and 15th Cabinet installation in the Club’s program of community support.

It is testament to the community spirit, commitment and enthusiasm of all three organisations that the Hall is now a focal medical point adding to the valuable amenity for the village.

A defibrillator is a medical device that sends an electric shock to the heart to fix a dangerous, irregular rhythm and help it beat normally again and has been proven time and again to save lives in an immediate emergency when a journey to a hospital would have taken too long with the most dire outcomes.

Pictured are Martin Waterton President of the Rotary Club of Garstang and Over Wyre and Worshipful Brother Eddie Parkinson Past Master of St Michael’s on Wyre Lodge.

This new location certainly makes St Michaels on Wyre a safer place to live and work.

  • Summer Social Curry Night

19 diners gathered to enjoy a curry night at the Bangla Brasserie on Tuesday(11th August) and all were warmly welcomed by Frank Hogarth, the Worshipful Master.  Lodge members, partners / wives and friends ensured a convivial evening during which the banter flowed, acquaintances were renewed and new ones made.  Ali and his team at the Bangla provided great food and a slick service.  Conversations lasted well after the meal ended, always a good sign!!   It was a great way to get together and have a relaxed social before what will, undoubtedly, be a busy masonic season.

    Here’s to the next one!!!

Our secret golfing weapon aka Bro. Dave Gardiner performed so well as to lift the Lancaster and District Group golfing trophy on Friday 12th June at Silverdale Golf Club. Playing Stableford and scoring 32 points on the day, it was enough to beat the other 15 contestants and propel Dave in to the Provincial golfing finals later in the summer.

A huge well done Dave, we’re proud of what you ‘ve done and we wish you all the best in the finals.
